"I live with the woman?" he asked. "That beats your undercover work any day of the week." He raised an eyebrow. "Was there? Does this qualify as dinner? Because it should, and I'm sure there are flowers around here somewhere." It was so different for him, and maybe that's why he never asked people about their family. "I'm sure Hetty could find out. I think she takes it as a personal insult that she can't find anything about our parents." He looked at Mike. "You're from here? You and Sam, local boys." Not that it would make much of a difference when they were stuck inside.
"Stop, really. I might actually develop some sense of modesty if you keep going on about how brilliant I am," he said, trying not to smile.
"We can both agree that G would kill you and possibly kill me," he said, chuckling. "I don't know about rules, but I'd like to stay alive. Come on, let's put that away and we can come back for that cake."
