"Skip What to Expect, we should write Super Powers for Dummies, with your basic problems like headaches, nausea, murdering people in the astral plane. Just the bare bones," he said, smiling. "Sure, you wish for one when you're ten. We haven't been ten for a while." He smiled brightly. "You're welcome. So how is she doing? Going crazy on you yet? And if so, you should warn everyone so we know the days that it's easier to duck when she looks at us."
He snorted. "We were, and then people started asking us stupid questions and our brains have short-circuited."
Derek raised an eyebrow. "And who should I ask? You're the only one I've seen." He bit his lip, trying not to smile. "And how exactly do you know that my head will explode?" he asked, before shaking his head. "How about, I don't ask questions and you don't play stupid? I know you like to play that angle, but there's really no reason here." He nodded. "Okay, let's try something stranger and see what happens." He fixed the pillow and rested against the headboard. One day he might be able to do all the super cool powers, but he didn't think that they would develop overnight.
He closed his eyes and tried to concentrate. This seemed the harder part, disconnecting with his body, although he was getting better, and it took less time. Usually he would 'travel' randomly, but now he tried to focus searching for Deeks. It was very different from the first time. He didn't wait for Deeks to appear, but reached for him and pulled him into the astral plane. "Okay, so that's different, but works. How does it feel for you?"
