"Geo Force is a member of the Justice League. He's got a lot of powers, all related to Earth, and he can manipulate the Earth's gravitational field to make an object heavier or lighter, which sounds exactly like what you can do," he said, before chuckling. "I never thought that I'd be using the Justice League as resources, but that means you could slow down someone's decent, or you could make an object fall harder, creating holes on the grounds or hitting people. As with any power, it can be used to save or kill."
Derek shook his head. "No, you are trained to be a surgeon, but you can use the same skills to kill. While Jack the Ripper wasn't a doctor; there have been serial killers who were surgeons. Again, it's what you do with the skill. Start training and don't worry about what you're going to do with that training. Focus on you and how you can connect to the earth and its gravity. Don't worry about people or things for now."
He took a deep breath. He understood the dilemma; it's why they tried not to shoot when they arrested their suspects, even when they had legal reasons to do so. "You're thinking like a civilian, April. The moment they attack, we are at war, and we become nothing more than soldiers, and as such we work under war rules of engagement and war ethics. If you were to judge these soldiers by civilian ethics, then they are nothing more than murderers. If you judge them by war rules, then they re doing their job and so are we. Killing the enemy becomes our job. Although in a case like this, I would say that you're still defending yourself. They might think we're a threat, but they could arrest us, instead, they will choose to kill us, not because they think they can't contain us, which they have until now, but simply because they are following orders. They aren't defending themselves or their way of lives. They are disposing of a problem. These are the kind of operations that are illegal under international laws. These are the kind of killings that would get them convicted under crime of wars and genocide. They aren't just doing their jobs; they are violating the very laws that they have sworn to protect. So you know what? Using your powers isn't just legal, but above all moral and ethical."
