RP: Callen and Sam Who: G Callen and Sam Hanna Where: around the base When: Sunday, December 19, 2010 Summary: G goes for a run to clear his head.
There was one thing the cold had over the California sun he missed so much. It kept him moving when he ran. There was no temptation to slow down and walk when he was tired or lazy. Stopping meant being even colder.
So he could keep running until he was forced to stop before he fell over.
He'd done a lot of running in recent weeks, lap after lap around the base for hours as he dealt with being there, Sam's initial distance, his own insecurities and doubts now. He'd been made to see he needed to take control and lead the way he was supposed to. The days since the ice skating outing had been spent looking into schools for Savannah, reviewing the information he had on the others, not merely for security but with an eye to creating a team that built on all of their strengths and minimised their weakenesses, and making the arrangements with a small, independent group home to deliver Christmas to the kids there.
It gave him something to focus on beyond questions that would never have answers, not until or unless the scientists here came through for them and found a way to send them back. But, it didn't make it all go away the way running did. Halfway around the perimeter of the base, and he was feeling calmer than he had the night before, restlessly moving around the house and trying not to wake his partner up in the process.
