Re: Callen and Clay
"I understand." G actually did understand that feeling. He pushed himself through enough issues to be intimately familiar with that desire not to be bested by his own weaknesses. "We'll push you as hard as you can take. But, we also train for all eventualities as a precaution, which would include possibly not having access to those remedies and making sure you're as capable without them as with them." He made a mental note to check with April about how she was obtaining the medication for Morrow, how much of a paper trail was being left behind. He and Sam needed to know for training, to make sure the man would survive. What they didn't need was anyone else getting a hold of that information and using it against Morrow.
G would have left off that word of wisdom at 'never trust'. But, as he needed these people, all of them, to trust him at least enough to keep them alive, he'd stopped voicing that one, changing it. "Never trust anyone who hasn't earned it," he said, both warning and agreement in one.
And this government really hadn't earned it.
"In my experience at home, it's never a question of will they spend, but what will they spend on. They have their priorities and they tell those of us who work for them what they feel we need to know when we need to know it." Of course, they weren't home and what they needed to know was pathetically little in the eyes of this government. But, G wasn't going to get into details out here in the open.
"Life has a way of doing that." G chuckled ruefully. "Guess that explains how we all ended up here. But, I'll let you get back to enjoying the barbeque. There are a few others I have business with before I can do the same. If you or your wife need anything, feel free to come and find me."
