RP: April
Who: April, whoever greets her in the interrogation room
Where: Seattle, the base
When: December 16
Summary: April is on her way to work but something is different.
Mornings were always chaos. Too many people crowding around the sink trying to get ready on time. Jackson and Karev were every bit as vain as she, Meredith and Lexi, which made finding the time to get her hair in order difficult. Well somewhat easier now, she supposed. Karev avoided her just as much as she avoided him, which was a good thing she supposed. The mere thought of what had happened brought a flush to her face.
This morning she'd got ready a bit ahead of time. It helped that Meredith, Lexi and Kerev were all on the night shift. With just three of them it was a lot easier finishing on time. The fact that she didn't have to work at avoiding Karev was easier too. Even with just the three of them though, she'd opted for going early, wanting that moment to herself to gather her thoughts before a new exciting day.
She didn't see the car until it was almost too late, and her heart nearly stopped as she jumped back up to the curb with a little shriek. "Lady, you okay?" She nodded, not really looking at who was asking. "Yes, fine thank you," she said, not hearing the rest of what the man said, in a hurry to reach the hospital.
When she did a few minutes later, she stopped short, staring at the building. 'Seattle Grace Hospital' it said in large letters. In confusion, she blinked and looked back up. She could have sworn they'd exchanged the signs, that the full new name was represented on the hospital entrance. Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. That was what the sign was supposed to say, and she knew she would have noticed if they'd missed something like this. But that left the question why had they taken down the new sign and why had they put the old one back up?
She didn't have time to find out, however, for suddenly there were men with guns aimed at her and instinctively she raised her arms, seeing nothing but the guns, being instantly brought back to that day. She could see him, not them, in front of her. See Dr Shepherd lying on the ground bleeding from a chest wound, as she rambled on about her family, telling him again and again that she was human. She was human, she had a mother and a father and three sisters.
Then there was nothing.
She woke up in a panic in a small room. Bare walls, a table, a chair, a door. Panicked, she ran to the door and started to pound on it, crying out for help she could only hope could hear her.
