The smile was oddly reassuring, even if perhaps it shouldn't be. But then he said he wouldn't hurt her and for some reason she trusted him, at least for now.
"But why am I here if you know that I haven't done anything?" she asked. "And what do I have to do with the Navy? I don't even know anyone in the navy." She was quickly getting a head ache, and kept looking at the open door, worried it would close on her again.
"I know I'm young, Mr Vance, but I'm also a doctor. Why don't you try me," she said. "Just say what you want to say, because right now I'm just imagining things and I assure you that whatever you can tell me can't be worse so just go right ahead."
