RP: Marty and Sam
Who: Marty Deeks and Sam Hanna
Where: The base, the house
When: May 19, 2011
Summary: Marty does what he can to make sure Savannah doesn't kill him

There was a part of him glad to be back here, in the place that had started to become home - it was small and really Marty was more glad that Savannah was with him when they got back than he was about being back in New York, especially after the more than eventful close to the trip they'd had - it was good getting back to some small sense of normalcy no matter how briefly it lasted.

And speaking of normalcy Marty was about to break that as he approached Sam when he had a bit of time and Callen wasn't around or it didn't look like he was around, he could have been hiding anywhere for all Marty knew. "Hey," He said dropping down onto the couch beside Sam. "You got a minute, I kind of wanted to ask you for a favor." He said - because really he could beat around the bush on this and deal with all of this in a more drawn out sort of way or he could just ask Sam and let his partner give him the hard time he knew was coming and get it over with.

In the end he decided faster was better.

Sam was making the rounds, talking to everyone, informing them that Robert was G's brother, that he would stay with them, and not to ask questions or mention that he and G were involved. He should have sent an email out instead of repeating the same thing over and over. He might not have gotten tackled by Savannah, although it was rather hilarious to see her try to hug him but putting her hands behind his neck. There was one last person to see.

"I've got two minutes, since I was going to speak to you anyway." He looked at Deeks, wondering if Savannah had gotten to him already and if there would be a problem with Robert living there. He decided to see what Deeks wanted first. "What's going on?"

"You were?" Marty let himself be distracted for just a moment and shook his head. No favor first, he needed to insure his continued existence first before anything else and then he could worry about what Sam had wanted to talk to him about.

"Right, you know about Savannah and me and upcoming wedding things that I'm still vague on but I'm sure I'll have a much better idea of what's happening once I talk to her later." Marty rambled briefly, knowing that Savannah would be relieved to know he'd talked with Sam and maybe they could talk a little bit more about what their plans were and if anything was changing with all these new arrivals. "But what I wanted to ask was if you'd be my best man, you know partners and all of that and Savannah all ready said Callen was off limits and yeah." He shrugged. "I'd really like it if you'd be my best man."

Sam should have suspected that it was about the wedding. The only thing that had stopped the talk about veils and bouquets had been Robert's arrival. He should have known that it wouldn't have last.

"Yes, I might have heard something comprehensible over the squealing. However, my ears aren't used to such frequencies. I'm sure you will be able to understand her and tell us what she means," he said, keeping a straight face, which couldn't last for long, though. He raised his eyebrow as he stared at the younger man. "So you're saying that you're only asking me, because your fiancee told you that you couldn't ask G. And I'm supposed to do what? Be honored that I'm second choice? Maybe you want to ask Eric first. Just to cover your bases, or did Savannah tell you that he's off limits, too." He almost wished that G were here. This conversation would give him something to smile. "Second choice. I can't believe this."

Marty chuckled when Sam mentioned the squealing - Savannah had been excited and everyone out there in LA had needed to know about it, especially Sam and Callen so they got to hear all of that. "She's very excited about the wedding and everyone is going to play an important role in it and if you even think twice about saying no to her she will find some very creative way of killing you is about the gist of it I think, but you let me know if you need further translations I'll do my best to be of service."

Marty opened his mouth when Sam suggested that he was his second choice, that he had only asked him because he couldn't ask Callen, but really what else could he say with the way he'd asked. "Well shit," He huffed out a short breath pushing a hand through his hair, "I think we're both at a point where we know I'm bad at these sorts of things. That's not what I meant, you're not a second choice and I'm not asking you because I can't ask Callen. I'd have asked even without Savannah warning me off him." He told Sam.

"You're my partner, man. I trust you with my life out there and I wouldn't want anyone else standing with me up there on that day. And if you can manage to forgive me for being an ass and not knowing how to ask you in a way that actually you know conveys the idea that I'm asking you because I want it to be you and not because I don't have anyone else, I'd like it if you'd be my best man."

"I always knew that we should have been afraid of her. Nice girls are always the worse," he said, still serious. "I might have to use some of my skills to avoid her." Not that he had any intention of doing so. This was family, and he wanted everything to go smoothly for everyone, although he felt sorry for anyone that got between Savannah and her perfect day.

Sam watched as everything he'd said sunk in, and waited until Deeks was done, before cracking a smile. "You're beyond bad, man. You're so bad that you'll have to marry her simply so she can talk to people for you. It's a good thing that I've seen you on the field."

He nodded, smirking. "Of course, I'll be your best man. Who else can watch your back if she tries to kill you for getting the wrong flower for your lapel, or if she finds out just what we can do at a bachelor party? You're going to need a SEAL for that one." He patted Deeks' knee. "No worried, partner. I'll have your back, at least until the wedding. Then you're on your own." He turned his head to look at Deeks, dropping all pretenses. "I know G thinks of her as a daughter, but you've been family long before Savannah. I'm really happy for you. You make each other crazy and happy at the same time; that's love and it looks good on you."

Now came the hard part as far as Sam was concerned. "As family, there's something I have to ask. They ran DNA tests, and that man we found is really G's brother. He's going to stay here. G isn't ready to tell him about us, so if we can keep it quiet until they talk." He didn't think that part was going to be a problem. "I know how much you liked each other. No hurting G's brother, either."

"You guys said she was scary at the start, little did you know just how right you were." Marty chuckled, it was still hard to believe that they had ended up like this after that initial meeting - it was just supposed to have been something for fun, check and see if the cheerleader really was as scary as everyone seemed to believe she was - and now he was marrying her. "You really think you have enough skills to hide from Savannah when she is set on planning her perfect wedding?" He asked, quirking an eyebrow at Sam and grinning. For all the might groan about these plans Marty was well aware that everyone was going to help out.

"I'm sure she'll try and teach me how to say things without sticking my foot in my mouth half the time." He assured Sam with a shake of his head - he really didn't mean to fuck things up the way he did, and yet inevitably every time he said anything he said it in the worst possible way. It was a skill.

He chuckled when Sam agreed for all the best reasons. "Thanks man, if I'm going to be getting into any sort of trouble at a bachelor party I want a SEAL around to have my back." He doubted they'd do anything too bad but then again you never knew. He grinned when Sam congratulated him on all of it. "Thanks - it's crazy you know? I never saw any of this coming but it's great. Insanely scary but great and completely worth it."

Marty had almost forgotten there was something Sam had wanted to talk to him about too, and then when he started Marty wasn't sure he didn't prefer the wedding talk. Shit, he'd known it was a possibility well perhaps not brothers, but that the two of them could have been related in some distant sort of way - it would mean that Robert wasn't lying, that his story about his mother and the parents he'd never known were true. But god how did this happen? A long lost brother just showing up here like this? Nearly the entirety of the OSP ending up here, it seemed like too much of a coincidence.

"Yeah, I can keep a lid on that." Marty nodded he wouldn't be the one to give that away, Callen could do that when he was ready. He had a bigger problem with the man staying with them, family or not. He sighed but nodded. "Yeah, he's a real charmer. I'll do my best not to hurt the guy if possible."

"We are very perceptive people and you should trust us implicitly," he said, with a smirk. "I think I could find ways, and if that doesn't work, I know how to make people disappear," he said with just the right darkness in his voice, even if he would never hurt her. "You don't have the same skills. I'd be worried if I were you."

Sam chuckled. "That or you can think of every conversation as a job. I'm sure you'd do just fine that way." Not that he would seriously suggest that. It took enough to convince G not to do exactly what he was telling Deeks to do.

He leaned toward the younger man. "You know she'll have spies in there. She's too friendly. We'll need a plan and counter measures to ensure full secrecy. This is going to take skills to avoid the problem before it even comes up." He clapped Deeks' back. "Whatever you need to tell yourself. I knew it back in December that you were head over heels for this girl. I would have scared you off if I thought that it was just sex. Glad you finally caught up with the rest of us."

He took a moment to look at Deeks, and knew what he wasn't saying. It wasn't hard to guess after that first encounter. "We don't know him, Deeks. If I got drugged and taken prisoner, I'd do a lot more damage to the people in that room than just throw a few insults at them." He was amazed that no one had hurt Vance yet. Maybe he should speak with the Director about additional protection, because someone with Special op training could do some serious damage before Vance could even explain. "And he is family. Don't put G in a situation where he has to pick sides. Besides, why would you even be worrying about him when you have the perfect wedding to plan? Concentrate on that and everything should be fine."

"Oh believe me I do, you just wouldn't think someone as small and sweet and bouncy as Savannah could be quite the force that she is." He chuckled and then shook his head at the tone Sam too - Marty had absolutely zero doubt that Sam could certainly make people disappear if he wanted, but the idea that he could ever do it to Savannah made Marty snort. "Well I'll let you know if I ever need anyone to disappear, I think I'll be all right with Savannah though. She loves me too much to kill me."

"You'd miss the opportunity to give me a hard time about it if I stopped making an idiot of myself though, really I'm just doing it for you, man." Marty grinned. Half of what he said he knew damn well was going to earn him a hard time, and the rest was an unfortunate side effect of the lack of filter between his brain and mouth when he wasn't working. He'd find a balance some day - he hoped.

"Bachelor parties are the responsibility of the best man right? I think you're more than capable of setting something up that is spy free and keeps me from being killed on the wedding night." He smiled, nodding as he looked at his hands for a moment - he'd been slow on the uptake with Savannah from the start, trying so hard to dig his heels in and deny what everyone else had seen long before he'd ever considered it a possibility. "I always come around eventually."

Marty sighed, "Yeah I know." He really did and he didn't really blame Robert for being an ass that day - not after what he'd been through only to wake up to have people asking questions and giving him some bullshit story about alternate dimensions. "No I won't. It'll be fine." He might not be Robert's biggest fan, and he suspected the feelings were mutual, but he wasn't about to make this any harder on Callen if he could help it. The man had enough to deal with in his life without adding that to the mix. "I'm sure Savannah has more than enough to keep me busy, it'll be fine."

"Never judge by appearances," he answered, knowing how stupid this conversation was, but it hadn't been much different at the beginning with G. They need to establish this relationship for when they were on the field, and maybe it would erase that sense that Deeks needed to catch up to Sam's training. He could never catch up; he just needed to do his own thing, and they'd be fine. "I'll always have your back." It was good that it would never involve killing Savannah or they would have a problem.

Sam snorted. "You have a long way to go before you stopped making an idiot of yourself, but I appreciate the entertainment. Very thoughtful of you." He grinned as the man went on. "The real question is do you want women or men as strippers? Or should we be equal opportunist and get both?" Of course, even as he joked, he was already thinking of possibilities, security arrangements. "If we're going out, which would save you from Savannah's wrath, we need a private room somewhere. I"m not trusting so many people, half drunk in a club." He shook his head, smiling. "G is going to have a fit when I tell him about this." They could probably look at rental in the area, pay a half month for one night, nothing that would show up anywhere. He'd have to look at the local pubs, maybe do it in advance and do it on a night when the pubs weren't busy. "We'll figure something out."

He nodded. "And if you need to go out for things, remind her not to disappear on us. I"ll be happy to go with you guys. You can concentrate on whatever she wants, and I can make sure that you both come back alive."

"Yeah yeah." Marty chuckled softly and nodded - it was good just bantering with Sam, kind of like the way he and Kensi had done it. Things were going to keep getting better, they were going to keep right on working together and it was going to be good. "Thanks."

"And I'm sure the road to recovery from idiotdom will be more than entertaining for everyone around to see it. I'm just a generous sort of guy." Marty grinned, before he shook his head. "Nope you're the best man you're supposed to take care of these things, I'm pretty sure that's how all of this works. You know with my vast experience with weddings and marriages and bachelor parties." He chuckled as Sam started thinking security. "I have complete faith in you, buddy."

"I'll keep you posted in the wedding details, make sure she keeps out of trouble and I will be on my best behavior around the brother, everything is good." Marty nodded, everything was going to be busy for a long time now - complicated in new ways and they'd all have to deal with it, but they'd figure it out.
