See this was the problem with actually getting close to people, though Marty supposed he was more than a little transparent about all of this. But especially so since he and Callen had been getting closer with all of this, the way they now had an opening to for Callen to call him on the lie instead of just letting it slide. He sighed and nodded, things were messed up in his head right then - and he wouldn't try to deny it a second time - it wasn't worth the effort to play it off that way.
"Specific's might help." Rather than trusting himself to keep Savannah off his mind at them moment. Since it was proving to be a harder task than he'd realized.
He couldn't help they way his eyes flicked up to Callen's face though when he actually did start to get involved beyond a simple acknowledgment that things were fucked up at the moment. Marty wasn't sure whether he ought to be pissed or just resigned. Because really if it wasn't Savannah it would have had to have been Callen. And all things considered, it wasn't going to be Savannah.
He thought about trying to explain it to Callen, his issues with all of this, with Savannah and relationships and marriage and some time line and just everything and thought about how well that had gone with Savannah before he sighed. Marty nodded. "Yeah, I can try and show it." He just wasn't up to a lot of words today it seemed, preferring to dwell in his mind rather than hide behind words which wasn't even going to work with Callen in the first place.
Giving Callen a moment before he pushed into his mind again Marty reversed the process flitting through his own memories and sending them to Callen, it was emotions mostly, the way he felt about things at first - showing him Savannah and who and what she had started to become for him, the way he felt about her and then moving on to the fear that all of that brought with it - he showed Callen Jess the way he'd kept her at a distance and then that moment when he'd learned she'd been killed, and then Michael and when he'd broken things off with him, he took him further back showing him his mother and her husband, their marriage and his own parents the way his father had been after his mother left. All of it moving fast the way it did when Marty thought about it, blurring together in some places and slowing down in others focusing on all the times he'd seen things go wrong, the way that built up in his mind the way he pushed any chance for it away in his own life.
Maybe he ought to have showed Savannah some of these things, helped her to understand since he seemed so incapable with his words, but Callen had asked and once given an opening Marty seemed to be unable to keep himself from showing all of it until he was back in his own head again.
