Re: Savannah and G
"Yeah, it really sucks for both of them," G agreed on a huff, thinking he should try to talk to Eric, too. And, while he supposed Vance would likely try to take responsibility for telling Jethro, G felt he ought to be there when they got home. They might only see each other once every couple years or so, if that. But, Jethro Gibbs was family. He smirked a bit when she tried to reassure him of his own lack of culpability. "Still my watch, Savannah. Whether there was anything else I could have done," he shrugged. "I don't know. But, I'm still a lead and she was a part of our team. Ultimately, there's always some responsibility that's mine. I'm okay with it, though. So, you don't have to worry about me, not about this, okay? It's part of the job."
And, he had others to worry about before he could even take time to worry about his own reactions. When the nightmares came in a few weeks, he'd deal then. For now, he'd just worry about Sam's nightmares, Eric, failing Jethro, making sure they didn't have to do this again, no matter who came through or how recalcitrant they were about doing what they had to in order to survive here.
"I know you are." They'd talked about that before, after the argument that had started him on his own downward spiral the last few weeks. "Wish I could give you more certainty than this. But, I'm afraid the only certainty I give you is that I'll be right here with as long as possible." Sighing, he ran his hand softly up and down her arm. "You've found someone here, though, haven't you?"
