Re: April and G
Of all the things G could have anticipated coming out of April's mouth, a request for more time on the range was certainly not one of them. Keeping his surprise from showing on his face, he took a moment to just look at her, assessing. There were a lot of things that could have brought on this change of heart and only a fraction were progress and not regression. G had always been very careful about how he taught people to deal with firearms. They were an important tool, a powerful one if used properly. But, also dangerous if handled improperly for the wrong reasons.
Abby had been well versed in firearms, after all, and it hadn't helped her at all when she refused to use them.
"I can make the time," he said slowly. "I made you a promise. That hasn't changed. But, I don't know that more time with a gun in your hand is really what you need. Your problems aren't with shooting. You've shown me what you can do with a rifle and you can probably do the same with a pistol if you can get past your mental blocks. That's the only thing holding you back. It's not your marksmanship, but your mind. I'll put in more time with you. We can try it if you think that's what you need. But, I don't think it is and I'd advise against rushing your progress when it's a mental block of that type holding you back. If you weren't learning fast enough, if I thought you were dragging your feet, I'd tell you, April."
