He was right, of course, even if it didn't stop her feelings of guilt. She leaned against him a bit, glad he was there, and her friend. "Thank you," she said. "For being here for me." She had a feeling he wasn't as upset as she was, and she supposed it was no surprise. He had not been the one going to see Abby every day, more out of a sense of obligation than a wish to truly be there, and therefore hadn't seen her in quite some time. Another relationship Abby had put too much stock too. It was incredibly sad to think of it that way.
The change of topic was nice, and she smiled as he spoke, though she did raise her eyes in challenge when he spoke. "Oh really?" she said. "I was in a hospital filled with doctors and nurses and it took hours before anyone came up with the solution."
