Re: Sam/Jenna
"I know you don't get it, but it is a normal reaction. I can tell you that anyone who's gone on a tour in a hostile zone feels the same, and with time, you will understand too," he reassured her. "Sean will understand as well. He might not get the desire to actually want to go back, but he's smart enough to understand that there is a compulsion that makes us act different from civilians."
Sam sighed. Chad wasn't a mission he wanted to talk about, but she had asked. "Being a SEAL is amazing, but you know how you go on a tour and even though people die, they are few and far between considering the months that you spend there. With my job, every mission meant that someone died, mostly at our hands, and you learned not to care when they were bad people, but the collateral damages were high, and after a while, it takes a toll. There's just so much innocent blood that you can have on your hands before you need out. I was already looking for possible places when I was sent to Chad, and that was the last straw. I did my job, I'll never regret that, but there were so many people dead on all sides. I needed out. At least now I know that when I'm shooting, I'm killing a terrorist."
