She knew that he was making fun of her, but she didn't care. It was important. "I want to win fair and square, not just play until we score and then end it again," she said. "That's just wrong and not fair, and some of us take things seriously and hang around for the long run." She might be talking about football or maybe about something else entirely, she wasn't even sure anymore, but she stopped herself before she could say more.
"You're still gorgeous, and a few tackles don't change that," she answered, trying to lighten up her own mood as much as the discussion. "Just look at Tim. He's so pretty and he got a scholarship for college."
