Re: Sean and Mike
"Sax, guitar, and piano. And, I sing a little, but mostly scat singing some folk," Sean answered promptly, needing very little excuse to talk about his music. "I was majoring in Jazz Studies for both sax and guitar. But, I've got a solid background in classical music and I dabble a bit in everything from blues to gospel to reggae to pop, you name it. The 80s were a great time for sax players in rock, too. You get some classic melodies like Glen Fry's theme for Miami Vice. It's not a common sound in rock anymore." Of course, the downside of talking about the music was remembering what he was missing, like the upcoming concert on Tuesday.
"True enough," he agreed. "Yeah, Dad's not bad at teaching. G or Savannah, either. They've got me working with both of them right now." And Savannah was as good as her word about trying to find ways to minimize the impact of the training on his hands, and therefore, his ability to play. "And I still can play, even if I can't perform here. So, that helps. But, yeah, I'll be glad to get home." This was never going to be his life of choice. He could do the work, would do it. But, his heart was in the music.
