You have to put walls, keep masks in place, make sure that a part of you doesn't bleed in," he said, although he knew that words couldn't describe what G did. "You won't have to do all of that, but someone like G has been doing it for decades. He left the Navy a lot sooner than me. It's been a little easier for me, because I tend to work with a team or a partner. Having someone there is my default. Being alone is G's."
He nodded. "I think you both could have done really well, and I'm not saying it because you are my daughter. You have the physical part down, more like me, thinking of security, staying in the background. Sean could have done more undercover work. He's good with people. That's how I would have put you, but it wasn't something I could control, not without causing problems and have people complain about nepotism." He smiled at her. "Maybe in time. Other people will show up, there will be reshuffling. This might just give you the experience you need before you come over to OSP. At least I hope so."
