"Back home we had decorations everywhere, I have a hard time thinking of anything sleek in our house. Everything had a history too, it wasn't just things you bought. It had either run in the family, or one of us made it when we were young, or it was a gift from someone. The furniture excluded of course, we bought those when needed, but everything was bought to last. At summer mum would put herbs from the garden in bouquets and hang in the ceiling to dry." She smiled. "Pretty much as far away from sleek and spartan as you can come."
"I'm not quite as extreme as my mother," she laughed. "In my case it's most likely books and magazines that cover every possible surface. Not that I have a chance to decorate much, I've been sharing houses and flats since moving away from home."
