Re: Parker
Neal paused at the question. It wasn't that he didn't want to answer it, just that he wasn't sure if he could. Kate had been the reason he had lost everything but Kate had also been the reason he had started conning after he had lost out with Adler. She had wanted a good life and he had risked everything to give it to her.
"He figured out the one thing I wanted most," he admitted. "And I couldn't have risked losing that. I'd have done it again if the situation had been the same so it's not like I would have learned my lesson."
"Sort of. Working for the good guys and knowing I'm not about to get busted at the end of it and send to jail again," Neal smiled. "That bit is great. Also the resources we have and the stunts we can pull... That's pretty awesome too. It's still way too tempting to grab something and disappear when they put me on the cases though. Peter trusts me to a point but not completely."
He took a sip of his drink. "So did you leave many people at home who will look for you?" Neal hoped Mozzie wasn't still searching for him, not with how bad his paranoia was, but with him and Peter missing, he knew it was likely still true. Mozzie wouldn't give up just because the bureau or the government put it about that they were working on some undercover job - he was an expert in conspiracy theories.
