Oh man. He didn't know if it was a dimension thing or it was this woman in particular, but he did not expect that answer. He could have just imagined his mother's face (or that of any woman married to an officer) if she'd heard it. "They are a little overwhelming at first. At least there aren't all the spouses. Now, there's one intense situation. The wives are even more ambitious than the officers and very aware of their role. Any faux pas could mean a ruined career."
"My first official Army party, at least from the inside. My father is a retired Army Colonel, so I got to experience many of these without actually going to them," he answered.
