Entry tags:*complete, 2013 06, character: sam hanna, character: sean hanna, character: tamira johnson

RP: Sam, Sean, Tamira
Who: Sam, Sean, Tamira
Where: Camp Site
When: Wednesday, June 5, 2013
Summary: Sam takes some time to talk to his family

Sam, like the other three, was walking around making sure that their directions were being followed. He knew better than to expect people to follow directions without them staying on top of things. He might be distrustful, but he wasn't their friend. He was the one responsible for their safety. Still he made two stops.

"I wanted them to have phone calls and letters, not the 3D experience," Tamira replied, rolling her eyes. "Just because you've never liked saying more than a handful of sentences an hour, Sam Hanna, does not mean the rest of us mind when someone else does. Besides, it hasn't been long enough yet for him to stop being surprised that even Sean's mother knows more about sports than he does," she added with a laugh.

"Let's see, it's June Fifth. So, that means it's been just over a month since I started learning that in really good shape for a woman over forty in no way automatically equates to in good shape. The trip to Napa was a nice break, though. But, training can wait. I have a feeling I'm going to be hearing a lot about it in the near future and what I really want to hear about is you and Callen and did I mention it's about time you did something about that?" She smiled sweetly at him, the innocence of the expression ruined by the mischievous gleam in her eyes.

"Phone calls and letter that could have been too risky," he said, sighing, because Tamira wasn't the one who didn't understand. "I say the important things. I have no clue what's important with Bolton, because I tune him out within the first five minutes. He's not normal, and I should know. I've spent five months with two profilers and they don't talk as much." He cracked a smile. "Pretty much anyone knows more than Sean when it comes to sports."

Sam snorted. "I always told you that you should have tried the new boot camps for civilians. They are the best gyms, and Napa? You went to Napa?" Had Vance lost it before they had crossed over? "No, the really important thing is that I'm going to make sure that you're in the best shape of your life. Me and G-" He shrugged. "It's just me and G. I can honestly say that nothing has changed other than sex. He's in charge, I'm his second, we plan for survival, and we still don't date. This is actually been a nice vacation, with no one trying to get us to do normal things. He's riding dinosaurs," he added after beat.

"Do me a favor and don't ever tell Sean you tune his husband out." Normal had never been in Sam's vocabulary, not really. He'd tried, they'd tried. But, Sam was Sam and normal was, well, Tamira had always suspected normal was a bit boring for men like Sam. Despite whatever new affection had finally grown between their son and his father, she didn't think Sean would take ignoring Troy well, even in jest. "And when was the last time you spent any great amount of time with normal, happy twenty-something young men?" she asked, laughing a bit. "And no, the guys in your BUDs class do not count as normal. Sports, food, his friends, and our son. That's what's important to him," she added.

"And when exactly would I have time for a gym? But, yes, Napa. It was a short trip for Oliver and Derek's birthdays. Not that most people even left the hotel spa unless they went to the pool." Cocking her head, one eyebrow raised as she listened to him. "Right, because having sex after all that talk about never telling him you're gay or that you've had feelings for the man practically since the day you met isn't a big change at all. The fact you're wearing matching rings and got a man who can't ever settle down to make a commitment isn't a change. Nor is the fact our son not only clearly adores you now, but also loves the man you married. Nothing important there. Right? And of course he's riding dinosaurs. You always said his number one hobby was giving you heart failure with his reckless behavior and utter lack of self preservation desires."

Sam raised his eyebrow. "I thought I have a son who adores me. I must be doing something right, but if it makes you feel better, I won't tell him, even though I'm pretty sure they are both aware of that. I think that's why we finally get along. He understands that my normal is exactly what you said: sports, beer and my friends. It's all the rest that it's not normal. The dates, the feelings, the sharing." If he were the type to shiver, he'd do so, but instead he just made a face. "And trust me, he knows, because we've had plenty of discussions on why I should date, which boils down to normal people date, and G and I don't. Ever."

Vance had definitely lost his mind obviously or maybe they were back to that normal thing that people liked even while the entire dimension was crumbling around them. Instead he thought about what she was saying and smiled. "Surprisingly, it's not a big change at all. The circumstances might have changed, but we haven't. Sex, the rings, knowing what we feel, they haven't changed anything or us. We are who we used to be, we still act like we used to. People would disagree, but that's how things should be. We were so in tune with each other before that nothing had to change."

He chuckled. "The dinosaurs are..." He licked his lips and moved closer, while he lowered his voice. "They are fun. It's not reckless behavior. We've approached it scientifically and we're a lot smarter than they are. Not that I'll tell him that, because who knows what he'll do once we reach civilization again. Of course, he'll tell you that I'm the one who takes the biggest risks," he finished with a shrug. He was a SEAL, he didn't act reckless, but dealt in calculated risks and training.
