Re: Mike and Deeks
Marty chuckled. "It's a new philosophy. It goes something like, if they won't learn for their own sakes, pair them with the one person who can get them to do it. You'll notice which couples aren't partners," he explained with a smirk. "But, not much I can do about the being attached."
The smirk grew into a grin. "Once you meet the two men they're with, you might feel sorry for Morgan and Emily. All that sharing wasted on Sam and G who make Derek look like an open book." Teasing turned to serious as he considered the question, though. "Talk to you about him? I think yes. Say anything in a way you get the kind of information you need? I suppose it depends on if you can convince them, John especially, that it's necessary to help Derek. John pays things very close to the chest. Nell, less so by nature, but she worked under and was a favorite of a scary little ninja of an operations manager from back home by the name of Hetty Lange, who had quite the reputation in the intelligence world from what I understand. I'd say try talking to them, but don't be surprised if you find out their very helpful sounding answers are only a fraction of the story."
Marty raised an eyebrow. "Fascinates you? Do you want a partner or a test subject? Or is this something I should just not ask about and you won't have to tell? But, no, we don't want him dead. He gets a chance to prove himself just like all the rest of us. But, I'll keep your request in mind. No guarantees, but I'll consider it." He wanted a little more time to see how or if Spencer and April and Ford would click with the rest of the group before deciding. But, he couldn't hold off for much longer. They needed to get people partnered up.
