Re: Brian and Mike
Brian shrugged. "Man, I so wouldn't know. I've seen like...half?...an episode." He laughed, shaking his head. "Not much of a geek, sorry. Not much for television in general, really."
It was too hard not to roll his eyes, so Brian didn't bother. "That's not crazy driving," he argued without heat. "I almost requested a transfer to teach the course myself when I saw it." Even before he'd hooked up with Dom and the team, Brian had been an ace in the driver's seat. Dom had helped polish his racing, but even Dom had held an appreciation of Brian's skill at handling the car in a chase. "But, yeah, they've got a drag course. Isn't half as fun as some unofficial courses I've seen. But, still a rush."
He supposed the question shouldn't have been a surprise. He'd expected it to come from some one of the law enforcement types around here long before now. But, it hadn't come. "The dark side has cookies," he replied flippantly, taking a sip of his beer and laying back to close his eyes again. "There are some who'd say it's just going back to my roots. I was a hood before I was a cop. But, the truth is, it was always about family, taking care of family and not letting them get screwed over by the system. I didn't understand it myself when I let Dom go and left LAPD. I started to get it after the op in Miami. I was trying to make things right back in L.A. I had a deal. It was why Letty came to me in the first place. We brought down Braga, the team got pardons. After she was murdered, I got my superiors to give the deal to Dom. He helped us with Braga, he went free. But, they reneged on the deal after the FBI jumped the gun and blew the op. Dom and I brought Braga in regardless and instead of the promised leniency, they threw the book at him. They give you a great sell on honoring the badge. But, there wasn't any honor there. Dom was a notch on the belt, that was all. He helped them and they would have thanked him by sending him to die. I don't think of it as going bad because nothing is ever so simple you can draw a line between good and bad. Good people do the wrong things. Bad people do the right things. Nothing's more important than protecting my family."
