"You must remember when we met very differently than me, because I was sure that you were all lazy and stupid. Now I think you're lazy and spoiled," he said with a smirk, before he sighed. "It might be insulting, but I shot a member of our team. I wouldn't see anything wrong with doing that."
He snorted. "But, yeah, people are crazy, even more than me, so there you go." He wasn't sure why they were still arguing, though. He did what she wanted, she got the memories she liked, and whether he liked it or not seemed irrelevant. It was pretty straightforward as far as he was concerned, but it meant something else to her.
"Stop. Stop talking," he said, still confused and angry for not getting any if this. Derek kissed her, because that would make her shut up, even for a moment, long enough for him to regroup. "I'm not even going to try and understand why protecting someone from the life I had makes me a man." He also wasn't going to argue about the future. Theirs had been changed so many times that he had no real expectations past the fact that John said they were going home.
Derek pulled back and pushed her bangs back. "Do you want to go out with me?" he asked. "Doing what I'd do on a date, you know if I ever thought of going out on a date. None of this fancy stuff. If you want, let's grab our backpacks, change clothes and I'll take you out. Brave enough, Red?"
