"Well, I guess, if we find anyone else coming through, we'll have to see if there's a teenager that suits your taste." John snorted softly, a fond smile turning up the corners of his mouth. "Wouldn't want you stuck with old and boring."
Derek and sex was weird whether he was with men or women. As his uncle and a kind of father figure, it was just...yeah, no.
But, that was something so unimportant compared to what Brian was saying as he continued. John just sat in stunned silence, staring at the ring in his hand for a moment."I want to," he said at last, looking up at Brian with a an even brighter smile. "I want to, Brian. I want you and I'm not giving you up for him. I don't want to be that man. I honestly don't. I like who I am when I'm with you...an you could know you could sell me anything just because it was you asking," he teased. "I want you, Brian. And, you need to know that I truly don't know what I'm going to do. I've told Derek and I've told Vance. I can't make a decision about what I'm going to do about home and the war without knowing what's really going on at home. So, I'm not making any plans for the future until it gets here. But, when it does, it's going to be my choice. Not his, not Derek's, not my mother's if she's still alive. Mine."
Twisting around a little more, he kissed Brian slowly. "I love you and I don't want Prince Charming. Why would I settle for the Prince when I can have the God of Babylon? My way might still involve fighting for a cause, you know. I'm not the myth and I'm not going to be. But, I don't do watching other people get hurt when I can do something to help very well."
