"Ooo, do you think he could send me a pair of the copper couture peep-toe pumps as a thank you gift?" she asked with a bright smile. "That would be a wonderful sign of appreciation."
Nodding, she glanced back toward the room she'd just left. "TJ needs to be strong for him. He'll have a long, painful road ahead of him. It could still be a few days or more before the lung completely re-inflates. Travis is going to need all three of us to help him for awhile."
Turning back to him, she laughed softly. "I see. So, I can keep you around to drain your veins as needed for my patients, but don't ask you to draw the blood yourself. You're a very complicated man, Doug Hammond." She reached out to squeeze his hand. "And thank you, for all your help."
