Re: The Hammonds, Savannah, others
"I did that for me and to get back to Travis and Doug." The words were right. But the disdainful denial just wasn't there. He hated himself for it and he was sure he'd want his own head examined later, but the promise actually helped. He wasn't starting to like her. God forbid. It was the return favor. He'd helped her and she was stepping up to help them. At least, that's what TJ told himself to justify the fact that some stupid part of his brain felt better with her promise.
He didn't even growl at the presumption of 'TJ', though he wasn't entirely registering that, either.
Instead, he just nodded. "Okay."
The fight was pretty much out of him now, replaced by dread and a helpless gnawing in his gut that threatened to eat him alive. But, beneath it all, he knew she was right. He didn't think he could do it. But, Travis needed what little strength TJ had now. It was going to have to be good enough for the both of them until Travis was healed.
He had to heal.
You hear me, Travis? You stay with me, dammit!
Right. He was losing his mind, talking to his injured lover an hour away.
Taking a deep breath, he nodded again. "Okay. But, I need another promise." TJ looked up to include his brother. No point in including his parents in this. They would only make it worse and the last thing Travis needed was for TJ to get worse. "From both of you. Don't let me near my stash. I'm no good to him high and I don't know if I can stop myself. I'm still trying to figure out how to deal and I usually need him to do it. So, I need you two to stop me. Please. I can't fall off that wagon now. Not when he needs me."
