Re: The Hammonds, Savannah, others
Savannah had followed Marty's directions, at least until the part about staying put. She was not going to stay home when she could help. She went to Sean's and left the children there, before walking to the house, or practically running.
The door had been kicked in and the lock didn't seem to work properly, but Savannah made sure that the door was well closed and jammed a chair under it in case cops would show up. She looked around the room, before making a beeline for Thomas. "Hey," she said, hugging him tight despite the height difference. "I'm so sorry."
She pulled back, but held his hands. She was looking straight at him, ignoring his family. "Maura is doing her job and we need to do ours to protect Travis. You can clean that piano while I clean up-"
"We can deal with that later," Elaine said.
"No, we can't," Savannah said, turning her head to glare at the older woman, before smiling at Thomas again. "You know Travis; you know what he'd say. We can get the house ready in case the cops show up, because we can't have them interested in him, not when they have his face on record as someone who escaped from prison. If Robert returns before we're done, then I'll finish up by myself, but you know your piano better than me, you won't ruin it." Not that it mattered, she would clean it anyway, but this would give Thomas something to do other than stare. "Robert will be here soon enough and you can go see him. Until then, he's in good hands. You know that. You told me how good Maura is. Trust her to do her part, and we do ours."
