Derek laughed. "Sure I would, if I gave a shit about it or understood them, but as is, not much to tell you. Secret machine, secret experiment, rifts open everywhere from multiple dimension, machine and experiment dismantled, but the rifts keep on opening." He was sure that John could give a lot more information if he wanted, but no one was giving classified information to someone who'd just arrived, and seemed a little too cool about this.
He sat back. The rifle he always carried when not in town was resting against his leg and he made no move to reach for it. "Now that I can answer easily. I shoot you before we get to our destination, but I really hope I don't have to do that, because I don't really enjoy killing people." He did it without blinking, but he didn't enjoy it, as much as he complained about not shooting anyone lately. "You wouldn't survive without us anyway. You know nothing about this dimension and there's a government actively looking for you. We can't have guinea pigs in their hands." He leaned forward, still smiling. "We can make this a lot more civil. I'm Derek. What's your name?" he asked, knowing that John was still looking for a name to match the face.
