RP: April, Eliot and Eve
Who:April, Eliot and Eve
Where:Their home in Kentucky
When:Mars 12, 2013
Summary:Eve is born
April was not the most patient of people, yet when it came to pregnancy, she knew enough not to expect to give birth on her due date. A week wasn’t that much time, and besides she was more than busy setting up their new life in Kentucky.
It had taken longer than in Indiana, but they’d found a place for the two of them (this time Nate really did insist on his own place, though he’d promised he’d stay with them until Eve was born.) Eliot had found another job as a chef, and for Nate it was never hard to find work to do. She had been less lucky, but she was also more tired, and with Eve coming she knew she couldn’t manage a job just yet. She pretended she didn’t notice just how much of Nate’s salary went to cover all of their costs, as she knew him well enough to know he’d deny what he was doing if confronted. In a way she supposed it was his way of saying sorry for what had happened in Indiana.
The first signs of labor happened in the middle of the night. Waking up, she spent hours aimlessly walking around the house, Cody following her around and watching her as she moved through the kitchen. Eliot too was keeping an eye on her, even if she told him it was just indigestion and to return to sleep. She knew her husband well enough to know he would never fully sleep if she was not in bed, but the back pain was too much for her to lie down right now.
As morning dawned it was useless to try to convince Eliot to sleep and giving that up April put him to work. She hated this, she hated not having a hospital, of not having anything for the pain, of not having monitors and emergency equipment and just relying on nature, but there was little to do about that. Knowing what she knew April had spent the last few weeks prepping Nate and Eliot with everything they needed to know, and now she needed to rely on teaching them enough.
Luckily the birth itself was uncomplicated, if painful, and before the end of the day, April was holding their beautiful baby girl in her arms, tired, sore, but unable to stop smiling. She couldn’t believe Eve was finally here, that all the waiting was over and now she was holding this perfect creature in her arms and it was all theirs. Looking up at Eliot (Nate had smiled and left the room as soon as his help was no longer needed) April could barely hold back her tears.
“Isn’t she just perfect?” she asked.
