"Isn't that the truth," Casey replied. There had been plenty of disappointments in his life. His mother killing his father, Hallie not wanting children, Dawson, but he supposed none of those things mattered here.
Casey shrugged. "To each his own, I suppose. Well maybe not if it involves serial killers," he amended.
"Of course I have. One of my best friends died about six months ago. I've played the blame game. The squad leader who didn't vent fast enough, the guy for going in against my recommendation, myself for not stopping him, but none of that matters and it doesn't change the fact that the fire doesn't mean to hurt anyone. The guy starting it - if there is one - sure, but the fire itself isn't evil."
