RP: Marty and Sam
Who: Marty Deeks, Sam Hanna
Where: Los Angeles to New York
When: 18 November 2010
Summary: Marty goes looking for a new yoga group and gets lost

Well, Marty couldn't exactly go back to his daily yoga group after his little incident with Kensi earlier in the week so he'd been trying out a few new ones each morning before he'd eventually settle on one. Turned out though it was harder than he remembered finding a good group that met at the right time - which was of course how he'd ended up at his previous group.

He was supposed to be checking out a new group this morning, but when he got to the location at the park there were now nubile young women, or men for that matter, to be found. Frowning, Marty looked around for a bit before giving up. Well at least he could go in early and annoy Kensi for a while longer this morning since he wouldn't be getting in any yoga by the looks of it.

Though as he left the park, Marty frowned, something was different. Things had changed, the lay out of the buildings, the cars. He pulled out his phone to try and call Kensi, but before he could even realize the call hadn't gone through he felt a sharp jab to his neck and everything went dark.

Sam couldn't believe it when Hetty told them who was here. It couldn't have been Kensi. No, that would have been too easy, made their lives normal again. Not that Sam didn't like Deeks. He was all right, for a cop, but Kensi was their girl. She'd earned a spot on their team with hard work.

However, they had Deeks, and he got to tell him all about new dimension and alternative lives and cover stories. Oh, joy.

Sam entered the room and the man was still lying on the floor. With someone like G, he'd have been suspicious, but this was Deeks, so he got closer and nudges his shoulder. "Time to wake up, surf boy. You've been asleep a little too long."

Marty was not a fan of being knocked out, he'd much rather be punched than suddenly wake up to find himself in an unfamiliar setting. It set him on edge, though the voice of whoever had shook him awake was familiar. He was a bit groggy, but worked on pulling himself together as quickly as he could only to frown when he recognized Sam.

"Really?" He frowned. "You disappear on some secret mission, and then you knock me out so you can see me again? You could have called man." He grumbled rubbing the back of his neck - he did not like being knocked out, and he did not like waking up on the floor.

And while part of him was a bit glad to see Sam again, he had to wonder what was going on. As far as he knew both Sam and G were off working some case or something - they were gone is what was important - and the rest of them had been left to keep the team together (which was rapidly becoming not very much a team with Hetty, Sam, and G all gone) in their absence. And besides, Marty knew well enough that if they needed to bring someone in on whatever it was they were doing Kensi would have been their first choice.

One thing that Deeks had was his humor. No matter how shitty things were, he always seemed to find a way to lighten the mood. Sam might not laugh at his jokes, but he still appreciated it.

"Yes, I missed you so much that I couldn't wait a minute longer," Sam answered with a snort. He offered Marty a hand. "I'll send you flowers so you can forgive me for not calling. Now, would you like to get up or do you want to stay there?"

"It's my winning personality that you find so compelling isn't it?" Marty asked with a smirk, taking the hand Sam offered him, letting him help him up off the floor and brushing himself off. "I always knew you cared." He grinned.

"So does G know that you missed me this much? Or is this all part of whatever your working on?" Because though they teased each other about this, there was something going on and Marty wanted to know what it was that had wound up with him laying face first on the floor, staring at Sam who was supposed to be gone for the foreseeable future.

"Or your sparkly smile," Sam answered, helping the other man get up. "I spend my day thinking of you."

He snorted. "I tell my partner everything. Don't you know that?" He stared at Marty for a moment. "All right, I'm going to tell you what's going on, and you'll think I'm insane."

He pulled a chair and put it close to Deeks, before getting the other and sitting down. "G and I aren't the only ones here, working on this. Hetty and Director Vance are here too. It's not just an operation; we're in a different dimension, and yes, this is when you start checking for insanity. Truth is that I don't even understand half of what these scientists have done, but there's some dimensional rift and we've crossed over."

"I do have a nice smile," Marty agreed, and doing just that as Sam helped him up. "It's understandable, Kensi does the same thing."

Well that much Marty was sure was completely true - Sam and G had a kind of partnership Marty had never actually experienced himself, and it was more than impressive that two people could have that kind of trust in one another. "Nothing out of the ordinary then, so spill it."

He followed Sam's lead when he sat down and did the same, waiting to hear whatever it was that Sam and G were working on. "I knew you were working with Hetty." It was obvious, though why she'd just up and leave all her clothes out where anyone could just take them out for a drink when they finished with a case was more than a little surprising (not that he'd taken advantage of that at all).

"Okay, so ..." He paused trying to think of something to say that actually made sense with what Sam was trying to tell him. "Why exactly did you bring me in on this if you can't tell me what's going on?" It felt a whole lot like the kind of stunt one might pull on the new member of a team to haze them.

Sam snorted again. "Yes, that's Kensi. Pining after you day and night." He smiled at the comment about him and G. He knew that Deeks didn't have that type of partnership, but for Sam, the team was all that mattered.

"Look, I know this makes no sense at all, but we didn't bring you in on anything. You walked through a rift and found yourself in this reality. The Director calls it the Omega reality. I call it confusing, but you can go with whatever you like." Sam got up, and clapped Marty's shoulder.

"Let's break protocol. There's a whole routine for when new people arrive, but I think I know who you are an what you do in our reality." He nodded toward the door. "Let's take a walk. It's easier to take if you see things. We're in New York. Brooklyn, to be exact, you know where I come from and I'm used to the heat and all of that. It's also about 53 degrees." He took off his jacket and tossed it in Marty's director. "I'll get another before we go out."

Marty held his hands out in a helpless gesture. "What are you gonna do?" He chuckled.

Confusing sounded like a very good way to describe this current situation - normally Sam made sense, but then again normally Sam didn't just disappear without warning either. So he'd go with confusing for the time being.

"We're in Brooklyn?" How long had he been out exactly, Marty wondered as he got to his feet again. He frowned looking at the jacket Sam had tossed him. "Now you're just trying to make me look stupid, aren't you?" Marty wasn't a small man, but most people looked small when you stood next to Sam.

"I'll go back to my room and write love letters to get it off my system," he deadpanned. It was way too easy with Deeks, because it meant nothing, while with G, it always became a little too personal, even if G hadn't caught on.

"We're in Brooklyn, in the Omega dimension and you're about to become an agent for ICIS - Interdimentional CIS, you know what the rest stands for." Sam chuckled. "It's an uniform jacket. No one looks good in it. Just put it on. We aren't leaving the base, so it doesn't matter. We'll get BDUs that fit you and then later, we can get clothes."

He opened the door, and held it open for Deeks. This was definitely different than other arrivals. On his way out, he did get another jacket and put it on. "That tall building is the hotel used to house the enlisted personnel when this was an army base. That's where you're going to stay. G and I are there, too. There are three FBI, one CBI, a CI and a cheerleader, and she's the one driving Hetty insane. She's also trying to escape every five minutes, so don't let her get to you. Anyway, we're going on that roof. There's something I need to show you."

"You could just tell me man, I can take it." Deeks smirked, normally Hetty or even Eric came along and interrupted any teasing that was going on, but it seemed for the time being they were going to remain uninterrupted.

Everything still sounded a bit too crazy in his mind, but he was going to let Sam keep going - he was on a roll after all, no sense in stopping him. "Are you kidding, I look good in anything that fits me." Marty denied, as he pulled the jacket on, and just like he'd known it was too big for him, making him feel a bit like a kid trying to wear an older sibling's clothes.

"A cheerleader? How much is G loving that?" He wondered. "Why is she here if this is some kind of CSI organization?" Though his interest was piqued to say the least. "Lead on then."

"And ruin the surprise? No, I'm much rather write a romantic letter. In Arabic. That should make you learn the language, improve your education," he said.

Sam rolled his eyes. The man was worse than most women, but Sam wasn't going to argue about attire, when they were wearing standard issued uniforms.

He chuckled. "So very much, although I'm pretty sure that Hetty is even more upset than G, which is strange." He opened the door of the hotel using a key card, and went to the elevator. "Because it's a different dimension, and we can't let people go around telling people about this. It's bad for the 'need to know' thing people like so much."

He put a hand to block the doors of the elevator, and then pressed the button for the top floor. Once there, he walked to the end of the hallway and used the stairs for the room. When they got outside, he put his hands on Deeks' shoulders and turned him around to see a clear view of the Manhattan sky. "Do you see that? The towers never went down in this reality. You're in New York, Capital of the United States of America, Omega Reality and that's your proof."

"Should have known you were type to play hard to get."

Marty arched an eyebrow. "Hetty is upset? Now this is something I have to see." He chuckled, he'd seen her be firm, and he'd seen her be scary, but upset - well that was a new one. "Ah so not everything changes across dimensions, then?"

He let Sam deal with the elevators, just content to let himself be lead around while he tried to figure things out. And big jacket or not, he was glad to have it - Marty was of course a Californian at heart. It was when Sam spun him around to get a better view of the skyline that his stomach dropped. "Holy shit."

"But I'm worth it," he answered, grinning.

Sam laughed. "I know. It's been strange. She's drugged the girl too many times. Only the fact that it's dangerous is stopping her from keeping Savannah asleep on a permanent basis. The girl has been trying to escape with frequency and is pretty inventive about it."

He waited for the view to prove what words couldn't. No amount of science could replace this. He also didn't take his hands off of Deeks' shoulders. "Not the words I would have chosen, but accurate. Now, do you want to get inside. I hate this drizzling. I can tell you the rest where we're warm. Unless you'd rather stay here. The first time... it's something else."

"I'm sure you are." Marty shook his head at Sam.

Well that was interesting, a cheerleader who was coming up with new ways to escape every day. "Sounds like things aren't easy even here, here I thought you go to a different reality you should have an easy time." He sighed.

There wasn't much Marty could say at the sight of the towers rising up over the city, it was ... hell, he didn't know what it was. He still remembered where he was the day it had happened, and yet here he was in a place that had never happened, it threw off his entire reality ... just. "Give me a minute." He said slowly, because this was definitely something else.

Sam looked out to those tall buildings. The view was still not as shocking as the things that he had read in his file. "Things are never easy, no matter where we go. Life is filled with challenges. Changing realities changes some of the facts, but the challenges are still there."

He let go and stepped aside, so they were standing side by side, just like he'd done with G so many other times, but at the moment Deeks didn't have his partner, but he was part of their team and Sam would do what he could to help.

"It gets slightly easier. You look at them day after day and you realize that you are still here and life still goes one and we get a new chance to help." He looked at Deeks for a moment. "In some way, it's still hard, but you got your team here, and we've got your back."

It would have been nice to have easy for once, but he was here - and all he could think about was that he was here in New York, he'd never been so far away from home before, and add to that that he'd some how found himself in another dimension or whatever they wanted to call it and Marty felt very small.

He stood there quietly with Sam for some time, not sure how many minutes passed before Sam spoke. "So that's what you've been doing here helping?" He asked, because that was easier, focusing on the familiar and leaving the rest for later. He was just getting himself on more steady footing with Kensi and now she was gone - and yeah Sam and G were part of the team, but they weren't his partner.

"We have, but mostly we've been studying all the differences in history and technology, while we prepare the new teams, with all the people coming through." He smiled softly. "Even the cheerleader."

Sam sighed. "I'm sure by now Hetty has information about the Marty Deeks that lives here. He'd be in our reality and contained in some way. Here, we create a cover story for you." He paused, giving Deeks the time to digest everything, before adding to it. "There's more. People acquire some sort of supernatural powers. I don't have anything yet, but they come, slowly. SO that's something else to get used to."

"Please tell me the cheerleader is going to be on G's team." Marty said hopefully, as much as this was to take in he preferred doing most of his big thinking on his own - it was easier that way.

"Wait there is another me? I don't even get to meet him?" Now that was disappointing, he wondered what an alternate version of himself would have gotten up to in his life, if he had done something more with his life than stick around LA.

"They're not going to make us wear tights are they?" He wondered with Sam told him about powers. "Does anyone else have anything? Or is that just what they told you when you got here?"

"I don't know. I'm pretty sure she'll be on whatever team pisses Hetty off at any given time," he answered.

Sam snorted. "I'm pretty sure that the transfer is instantaneous, so you have to content yourself with reading Hetty's report."

He started to laugh. "You've been reading too many of Eric's comic books. Vance and Hetty told us. They are keeping their powers secret. I have none, and I don't think the others do either, at least not yet." He clapped Deeks' back. "Let's get inside. You can settle in and then we can deal with the rest." Deeks had a few interesting days ahead of him.
