"Like you even have to ask," he replied, grinning for a moment. He had a few more friends now, mostly thanks to Troy and Sean dragging him into their group and the club. But, Savannah was special. She'd been the first to reach out, adopting John practically on the spot, despite his protests. After two years, there wasn't much he wouldn't do for her or her family.
"Wouldn't want people to start thinking I'm not like other teenagers." John laughed softly, though there was no real mirth in it. Squeezing her hand, he smiled a little. "I'm that transparent?" He really didn't think he was. But, he never talked for himself. He didn't do a lot of things for himself that he would for Brian.
"No, not really. I mean, I wasn't happy about it. But, Brian doing dumb things for fun isn't something really new. After all, this is the guy who grabbed Sam's crotch because he thought it'd be amusing." All because of a random conversation between the two of them. Brian was nuts. It was part of his charm. "No, it's not the pot. It's that he seems to have given up on everything and I don't know if I can reach him this time. He says I'm the reason he's even trying to stay alive. But, there's no joy in him anymore, no fire. He's given up on living and is just existing. I don't know what to do other than what I've been doing since they all joined us here. And, that doesn't really seem to be working. I can't even reach him through sex anymore. He's right in front of me, but it still feels like I'm losing him."
