"Thought I'd join you for a bit, actually." Smiling, John got up and moved to sit next to her on the floor. "And you like having Deeks around who'll at least pretend to appreciate your chick movies," he teased. In a way, life had been very easy when it was just the two of them on the island. They each knew the other had their backs and they could just do the work...at least until Savannah made him stop and eat because John would invariably get absorbed in playing with computers and radar and telemetry and wires and motherboards and food never entered his brain.
Watching Nicki and Kayla a moment, he chuckled. "I keep wanting to call one of your girls Savannah. There was a little girl we were helping to protect before I came through. Little older than they are, already in school. But, her name was Savannah." Having the kids around was normal after all the time they spent in the office and the twins were always with Savannah and Deeks at the club when the band was rehearsing. But, it still seemed a bit surreal to John to have kids around. "The way they smile reminds me of her sometimes."
John wondered what had become of her after J-Day. She'd never come up when he talked to Derek. Maybe she was with the kids there, playing with Kyle Reese, who was about her age. If he'd been alone, he might have laughed at the thought. The war had changed. There was a chance Kyle would never be sent back to find Sarah Connor now. Would Savannah become the new mother of his child someday? Would John Connor even exist any longer?
He was so fucked. And not even in the good, fun way Brian liked...or had liked...or... fuck.
"Any chance you're up for some of that talking I normally don't want to do?" He asked after a moment. "I think I need to."
