Savannah shook her head, because that was exactly what she meant. "You're still thinking about winning the fight, though. The advantage in retreating could be that you get all the people in the office and the children out of that building and to the other side of the island, or to the boats, or the plane. It's not about winning, but saving the most amount of lives and sometimes that will mean that you leave the fight to others, to me, to Sean, to Tommy. You need to trust us to keep them back while you do something else. Adapting means not just knowing what weapons you have or what food, but trusting your team, knowing what everyone else can do, knowing where your skills are best used, and sometimes it means talking to the enemy to gain time so someone else can run away."
She smiled. "Oh we'll practice things a certain way and then we'll do it the opposite, and then I'll ask you to find a third and forth way of doing things. Some with you two."
Tommy snorted. "I'll be able to succeed in the first and second way. I don't need more."
"Maybe not now, but eventually with time." She shrugged. "Hey, I was just a cheerleader when I got here. You can do this."
