Eric was awake, that's pretty much all Claudia knew about him. He was most likely in the kitchen. It was Sunday, and usually they didn't go anywhere until game time. "Got it, with Eric. He should be in the house, but you're right that I should know for sure."
Claudia rolled, packed, and put the drive with her laptop. "Thanks. I've been compressing the files and will make sure the decompression program's on there, too. You never know what we'll need wherever we're going. Of course, we may not have any sort of tech or hardware except for those bringing their laptops, and as long as it's not a surprise when it's time to go, I should have plans together to keep those laptop batteries charged. Wouldn't want to lose the ability of the research people to keep researching our way home."
Claudia motioned to her closet. "I'm not sure what else to take. In between everything else, I've been looking up every scenario under the sun, or if there's no sun, on how we can survive. I have the directions on how to make your pee drinkable, make gas masks out of plastic cups, bandages out of mushrooms, et cetera, et cetera. We don't know what kind of environment we're going to. Derek said there might not even be an indoors - and did you know that I told Derek I appreciated his training and his response was that he'd give his arm to have lived like this, which made no sense. 'Thank you' and 'Here's my arm' don't normally go together."
