"Good evening, Lieutenant." Maura smiled and nodded pleasantly as she came to a stop next to Reese. Looking at the invitation, she assumed she was included because she was partnered with Agent Vail. She couldn't imagine her inclusion in a family event otherwise. But, as she didn't generally didn't last through small talk for long without saying something odd -- and she had determined she'd said something odd to almost every person on this island after almost three weeks -- she felt much better discussing business when there was an opportunity. A social gathering on Sunday evening provided such an opportunity and she had a list of things to discuss with Lieutenant Reese, or Detective Deeks and Director Vance if need be.
"Actually, I need a number of things, if you have a moment. Now that I've had some time to acclimate to living circumstances on this island and make a few observations, I have some concerns and requests I'd like to discuss with you. Generally, I would go directly to the Lieutenant about some of these things at home, rather than speaking through Sergeant Korsak or Detective Rizzoli. But, if I understand your chain of command preferences here, you'd prefer to be the mediator in most things.
"First and foremost among my concerns is the fact there no longer seems to be a Medical Officer present to see to the basic needs of the platoon and I would like to offer my services for the post. If that is acceptable, there are several recommendations I would like to make for additional preparations before moving out on this rescue mission, including routine physicals for all personnel, medical training to compliment the survival training to be received, and suggestions for supplies that should be procured while it is still possible.
"Also, given the likelihood of there being no proper research facility when we leave here, I would like to use what time we have to conduct some studies into these powers, their genetic origins, and the effects they have our physiology. In particular, I want to investigate the side effects some people have reported experiencing and determine if these are indeed natural changes, or some new genetic disorder uncovered by the activation of these dormant genes. I am extremely concerned that these have so far been simply accepted as normal and no attempts have been made to determine if that is truly the case or if there is a chance future complications might arise. As we are preparing to enter a hostile environment where such investigation and potential treatment could be impossible, it would benefit us all to make these discoveries before we leave, if at all possible so proper preparations may be made."
