Again, it wasn't a question, but a conclusion, and if TJ needed Marks' opinion on what to do, Elaine would have to make sure that Marks' opinion was what best for TJ.
"I really was trying to see what you two wanted," she continued softly. "Anonymity is not something your father and I do well, but we thought it was preferable to the alternative." She also had Mother to consider. She didn't want to drag her through a war zone, because of TJ's man of the month. "I shouldn't have asked on the first night, before seeing what you and Doug had been doing." It was as close to an apology as TJ was going to get, although it really was an apology. She should have known better. "Am I too late to ask how you're doing?"
