Doug went through the motions, hugging everyone, knowing that with their family, the loving moments wouldn't make it past the first course, but he could pretend for a while that everything was okay, at least until he felt the emotions coming not from his family, but Travis, the one person he was so used to having around, and the emotions were familiar ones: betrayal, disappointment.

God, he did not want to go home with TJ.

"Did you miss us, Nana?" he said, instead, ignoring the situation. TJ would have to deal with his lover, while Doug could pretend than anyone noticed his absence, something he didn't believe for a moment. They only missed him when he had to clean up after TJ and there had been no reasons.
