Maura and Claudia
"According to some theories, yes. But, there hasn't been any proof of that found just yet," Maura clarified. "There are even discrepancies in what part of Germany the practice originated and what part of the century." Picking up a deep burgundy bauble in her left hand, she smiled. "Maybe not quite so much bling.
"Dr. Maura Isles," she began by way of introduction. But, when she reached to take Claudia's hand the odd pigmentation of her thumb caught Maura's attention. Soft moss was a color she associated more with paint colors than human skin. Realizing she was staring, Maura shook her head, though she kept hold of Claudia's hand, turning it at different angles to inspect the thumb. "I'm sorry. It's just...has your thumb always looked like this? There's not enough blue pigmentation to be copper oxidation. Hyperbilirubinemia, Hypochromic anemia, and Hepatolenticular degeneration would all present either more locally to the abdomen or an over all tint to the skin's pigmentation. If it wasn't for the more greenish tone, I would suspect hyperpigmentation. But, it's impossible for melanin to produce that color."
