G pulled his hand away again because he refused to let her make this personal. "Do you? Do you really know what I want, Savannah? Because it sure as hell sounds as if you don't care. You want to wait a few days to tell your husband first? I'm actually going to be fine with that. You don't want to share with the rest of the family? That's your choice. You don't want to be babied at home? Not a problem. You don't tell me something that could be necessary to know in the field? Then it's a problem. And don't even begin to think that if this was anyone else I wouldn't be just as pissed off or that anyone who puts themselves ahead of this team earns one iota of respect for those choices.
"Contrary to your opinion, it is not your choice who goes into the field, who is on the units, or what reasons are used to determine those choices. You want to decide what to do with your pregnancy, be my guest. You do not get to decide for the units or the team. Feel free to take your body and your child and do whatever you want with them. But, you do not dictate to me what to do with the training for this team and that's exactly what you've done by keeping this from me. And don't talk to me about not believing in people when you've shown you clearly don't believe enough in me to think I might possibly have understood there are different circumstances and don't trust me to have had everyone's best interests in mind regardless of personal feelings.
"You showed no respect for Sam, who would be responsible if anything happened while you're on his watch. And that's not even getting to the fact that swimming might be easier on your body, but some of the training he has planned for your unit is still not safe enough for either of us to consider putting a pregnant woman through it. I would hope you'd be able to recognize it and would speak up when the time came for those exercises, but that would still mean last minute changes and possibly leaving your partner alone or forcing Sam to divide his energies to cover his partner and yours. You're also his second in command. You might feel you don't owe me the courtesy, but you sure as hell owed him the courtesy of telling him.
"Now, I realize Dr. Isles is a pathologist. I do actually know a few things, even about pregnancy, as much as that will apparently shock you. I also know that she's a Board certified physician, she would have had the same amount of obstetrics training April had, and as Chief Medical Examiner she would have further knowledge of most medicine in general in order to be able to correctly determine cause of death. Since she apparently was able to deduce your pregnancy in a single conversation, she might actually know what she's talking about and is more trained than anyone else on this island. So, yes, Dr. Isles. We may not have the equipment now, but I can also see about getting it. So, when you've informed Sam and had her check you out as best she's able, then we'll discuss training and whether or not things need to be adjusted. Until then, this conversation is done and I have a training session to run."
G turned then to finish setting up. The others would be arriving any minute and, while he was pissed she hadn't told the leads, he meant what he said about the others. She could tell the rest of the team whenever she felt like it, which meant not standing there arguing about it when they arrived.
