"Still no clearer?" April asked. She had hoped for a faster improvement when it came to clarity. The way Eliot kept staring at her the last few days had her blushing from the intensity, but most of all it left her impatient to see an improvement. She was certain he was only days away from seeing perfectly again.
She was just about to read the note to him when he continued, leaving her with her mouth open. "You can't not go to church," April said. "If for no other reason, church is where you get to know people, it's where you become a part of the town, where you gain people's trust and friendship. If we want to fit in we need to go to church. We're not hiding this time around, we're working to fit in, church is the easiest way to do that."
It was bad enough that Nate didn't want to go, but then she knew that he was Catholic, or had been at least, and so she didn't expect him to go to church with them. "Even disregarding that fact, with Eve's birth coming up, we need to start thinking about what we want to teach her about religion," she said. "I don't want her growing up without going to church." It was one thing at the farm, but here - no here she wanted to be a part of that kind of community again.
She looked at the note. "It's a possition as a line cook and a place called B&J's American Cafe," she said. "It's open seven days a week, six am to two pm."
