The alarm went off while they were watching Bring It On on her laptop. Savannah was determined to make John like normal things, like movies about cheerleaders. Not that she didn't know he was humoring her, but tonight he was spared by the alarm.
They had the megaphones on the island, but right now, John had done something so the radars would send him the alarm. It wasn't any less jarring, but Savannah was up and running immediately.
She grabbed her jacket, before going to the closet. Night vision goggles were a must, a sniper rifle, plus an AK 47 and her gun. "Which side are approaching from?" she asked as she opened the door. "And bring the computer. I'll drive and you can tell me where to go."
Savannah almost asked if he'd lost his mind. Why would people go to the pier? But she trusted him, and she drove inland, parallel to the pier so that they could hide in the dark. She lay on the ground, sniper rifle set up. It was dark and with the scope the only thing she could see silhouettes.
Did they found them? Were these tourists? She didn't want to kill some poor soul who'd just happened to get here. They certainly weren't acting like a military team. She had no idea who was who, but one bullet should be enough if they weren't military and if they were, she could kill them the moment the rifles came out. She aimed very carefully, shooting so that the bullet would hit close to a person's foot. "This is a military zone," she yelled. "Leave immediately or you will be shot."
