RP: Wake for John and Savannah
Who: Everyone at the base
Where: 114 Sterling Drive
When: November 3, 2012
Summary: Brian does his best to send off two people everyone loved.

The email about housing had given him the idea. Brian had asked Derek to leave the extra couch set in his old house. A dining set from Deeks was brought over as well as extra chairs from Nell's. A chair was being used to set up the computer with the light program. The lights had been brought over from the lounge and the dining room had been turned into a club. Brian didn't know if people would use it, didn't care, but there should have been music and lights. John and Savannah hadn't been musicians, but they had contributed just as much to the club, in all of its versions.

The sitting room had been turned into a fairy land. Brian hadn't had much time, only a day, so he'd resorted to fabric and wall decorations used for nurseries. There wasn't as much pink as he'd have used for Savannah alone, but there was the Magic castle and princes and princesses spread all around. The food and drinks were on the table. Brian hadn't bothered asking people for things, but had ordered from different places creating the weirdest combination of foods, but he'd tried to hit everything either Savannah or John liked (not that John was picky, but then there were things that Brian had enjoyed watching John eat).

With everything set up, Brian could finally sit down on the steps staring his own private party. If he were lucky, his liver would give out before he could sober up.

Jenna and Brian

Jenna waited for Mrs Barrish to leave before approaching Brian. She knew it was a hopeless task, and that he'd probably tell her to get lost, but she had to try all the same. Someone had to try and the people he'd spent most time with seemed determined not to.

Maybe they were just smarter than she was right now.

"Hey," she said as she came up to him, not quite sure how to start this conversation. Her father might not be the right person to do this, but then neither was she. She was tactless, blunt and insensitive with no patience for other people. She was probably the least person in the world who should attempt this, with the possible exception of her father. But someone had to try, and she wasn't one to shy away from things.

"I don't know all that much about drugs, but from what I do know, weed isn't exactly the perfect choice when you're feeling down. Or am I missing some vital point that I don't understand?" she asked, taking a seat at the step below his.

Brian looked at her, almost wondering if she was bothering to tell him to stop, not that it would have helped. He snorted. "I would have shot up, but I forgot the cocaine in my other jacket."

He took another hit and watched the smoke escape his body, before passing the joint over. "I'll share if that's what you want." It'd give him time to take another swallow of whiskey.

"Thanks, but it's not my thing," Jenna answered, shaking her head.

"I came to check on you," she then said because really there was no need to beat around the bush and she wasn't good at doing it even if she'd tried. "Not that it's hard to see that you're not okay, but-" she shrugged. "Sometimes talking helps, sometimes not, but either way I wanted you to know that you're not alone in this."

"You're loss," he said with a shrug, before taking another hit.

He looked at her. He must have drunk more than he realized, because he thought that she was trying to help. "Yeah, sure," he said, before drinking some more, before turning to her. "When someone kills your husband fuck knows where for fuck knows what reason and hand him to you in urn, then we'll be in the same boat, until then, either smoke and drink or fuck off. Or you know just sit there, while I smoke and drink. Cheers."

"I didn't say we are in the same boat,"Jenna answered calmly, and it helped that this had been the reaction she'd been expecting. "I said you're not alone, that I'm willing to listen if you need or want to talk."

"Trust me, I know I'm not in the same boat as you. The only one who is is Marty."

"I might be drunk, but how does that work? You couldn't even stand Savannah for ages, barely tolerated her later, got friends with her because you needed her. You've barely talked to John. So what the fuck do you know?" He snorted. "Go talk to someone who buys your bullshit."

He looked at where Deeks was sitting with the girls. He smiled, although it was nothing pleasant, before nodding in the man's direction. "Go tell him and see if he buys it. Or better yet shut up and look pretty."

"You talk, I listen, the concept isn't a very complicated one, drunk or not," Jenna answered calmly.

"And you're right, I barely knew John, and I couldn't stand Savannah. I didn't understand her, I didn't like her, more importantly I didn't want to like her. But she was hard not to like, especially when she was determined to get you to like her." She paused. "She was stubborn, and strong willed, and I'll miss her. But even that wasn't the case, I could still listen."

"Now if you don't want to talk, that's another thing entirely. I'm not about to tell you what to do."

"And I'm telling you that I have no intention to talk to someone who didn't give a shit for months and months and now pretends to give a fuck so she can feel useful. Go fuck yourself." He got up, because alcohol wasn't going to stop him from moving, and walked off. She could get her girl scout badge for helping other somewhere else.
