This was turning out their typical conversation, with multiple topics and different layers. The end was never a given. Sometimes they went really well and sometimes Travis was left wondering if they were even from the same planet, let alone if they spoke the same language.
"You've just admitted to being a pain in the ass. I'll just translate from fancy speech into cop speech for you." He looked at the bedroom door and then back at TJ. "That's something temporary. Hopefully I can show you that you don't need that shit."
Travis hugged him tight. "You don't need it, because I'm going to show you that they were all wrong. Just look at tonight. You were there, sitting, doing nothing, and people noticed you. It's impossible not to. No one knows your name or who you are, you weren't trying to impress anyone, and they were still watching you."
