Alexis and Callen
First Tim, than April, and in the span of an hour, Alexis had re-evaluated her role in this fight of theirs. She had also realized that she needed to speak to a few people. Sean was one, mostly to apologize for even suggesting that they should let Ash die. She'd been upset and horrible, and that wasn't fair to ask from any of them. There was another person she wanted to talk to.
She saw the Director talk to Callen and Morgan and when they finished they took different directions, and she wanted to talk to Morgan, but Callen was first. They had been on the same team for months, but he and Sam were also busy with the rest, while she spent her time with Derek. They didn't argue, ever, but she really didn't feel close to them. She was going to change that.
"Hey Callen, wait up," she said running toward him. "This is going to take only a moment." Now that she was standing in front of him, she didn't know what to say. How did you explain months of thinking? Maybe that was the problem, explaining. It was too much like justifying her own bad behavior. "I'm sorry for... a lot of things. For that stuff with Ash, because I still think that you surround yourself with family, but like Sean said, you're ready to put them in danger and it wasn't right for me to mix your private life with the job. For not pulling my weight, and before you say anything, I know what's in my head, and I know I haven't done as much as I could have. I've been afraid, waiting for someone else to play White Knight. Robert, Tim, you, Derek. I know words don't mean much, but I'm going to show you that I'm not afraid... well no, I'm still afraid, I don't want to die, but I'm not going to wait for the White Knight. I'm going to do my part."
She stretched her hand toward Callen. "I hope you give me that change." She smiled. "I'd hug you, but I can tell how much you like it." Or she'd heard enough to know how much he liked it.
