RP: Leon visits the President
Who: Leon, President Allen and her advisor, a side of Robert
Where: the Oval Office
When: October 1, 2012
Summary: Leon has a late night meeting
A day like today meant that no one went home at 6:00, meetings were held into the night and the president would have her close advisors at hand. It wasn't surprising when Leon got a call from Jack Bennett trying to arrange a meeting the next day. As soon as Leon realized that the call as happening from the Oval Office, he found Robert Callen.
"Jack, can you wait just a moment?" He muted the phone. "I need you to take me to the Oval Office. Right now." To his credit, Mr. Callen just nodded and a moment later they were in the White House. "I thought we should have this converstion in person," he said, ignoring the shocked faces in front of him. "And please don't try calling anyone, we'd be gone before they come in."
The President stood up. "This is highly unorthodox."
"These are unorthodox times, Madam President," Leon answered, "but I assure you that our intention was never to hurt you, your administration or the people of this country. We are here to help, if we can."
"And why should we trust you?" she asked as went around her desk.
Leon smiled a little. "We aren't the ones to attack your people. We've only defended ourselves and since then, we've been under the radar, we haven't hurt anyone, we haven't gone public-"
"You mean you didn't kidnap that little girl in Florida." Allen stared with an inquisitive eyebrow raised. "We both know you'd be lying."
"It was for her protection and her father is taking care of her," Leon answered. "I won't justify what we've done. We were given no choice, but we're still willing to help. You can't fight them without us. If today is any indication, they have more people working for them. Bombs, right? Did anyone wonder how they got up there? But none of them would think teleportation, or illusion, or invisibility, or who knows what else can come from that rift."
"And you think you can figure it out, Leon," Jack said.
He shook his head. "No, but we can help you fight them. Today might be shocking, but I bet that they are doing a lot more behind the scenes, things that might not become apparent for months, maybe years, because it's not the murderers you have to worry about, but the ones who plan long term."
"And would you be willing to help us, with everything that happen?" the President asked.
"If we can come to terms," Leon answered. "Madam President, we haven't spoken much, but you were a woman of your word until that attack." He didn't miss the tightening in her expression, maybe at the indirect insult or maybe because she'd been pushed. Leon didn't have the time to figure it out just yet. "If I have guarantees from you, then I'm sure we can reach an agreement."
She gestured toward the couch. "Then gentlemen, let's sit down and find this agreement, because I will not let these animals kill more of my people."
