Re: G and Savannah
"No. Not wanting to hurt you means not playing games with you," he said. "I play games for my job, not with the people I care about. I'm not ever going to play those sorts of games with you. I will always be straight with you, no matter if it's something that will hurt you or not because the games will hurt more."
But, G stopped talking all together when she got to the end of what she was saying and the words sounded like they'd been ripped from the back of his own mind.
Not that he would ever say such things out loud. Even with Sam, it was almost painful to admit how afraid he was of losing people, losing Sam, how much he needed the other man. Savannah rarely had a problem sharing how she felt. He just wished she didn't sound so much like his own inner monologue sometimes when she did.
"Savannah, no." He reached out to her again, resting his hand on her shoulder so she could easily pull away again if she wanted. "You're not going to lose me. Not that way. I can't promise to be here forever. What we do is too dangerous to make such promises. But, I'm not going to leave you on purpose. I'm not going to walk away or stop caring if you say or do something I don't like. Too many people have done that to me my entire life for me to ever do that to someone I care about. Yes, I might want Kensi on my team. She's a born operator and you could learn a lot from her. A different style from mine, things only a woman can really teach another woman about how to move and interact. But my team is my family and my family is my team. You're both now and that's the way it's going to stay. No matter if Kensi ultimately gets assigned to our team or Burke's team. Your place is here so long as I have a say about it."
G smirked just a little. "Besides, I promised to turn you into the best agent you can be and I can't do that if you're not here. You're not going to make me break a promise, are you?"
