Derek didn't think it was that simple. John Connor hadn't changed. John Connor put the mission first and if Cameron was the right machine, he wouldn't have cared about Derek's feelings. He was a good general, cold, calculating, and he had no idea how his nephew, his warm and caring nephew had turned into that man.
"Or maybe I would have loved to spoil you while training you. I've done it once before and I was much younger. I'd like to think that I've learned a thing or two." Losing his brother when he was still a kid and finding him again had changed him in way he couldn't explain. "Today is for spoiling. Come on, we have a ride to go."
