Nick/Travis

Nick stood near the wall in the pool, keeping one eye on Eric, one eye on the surrounding area, and a third eye on the girls, which is why he had to stand by the wall. It was off season, so there weren't a ton of people there, but the ones that were who were old enough wore bathing suits to show off their assets. Nick really liked their assets.

He glanced upward when he heard footsteps on the cement behind him and raised a hand in hello at Travis. "Hey," he greeted. Travis was cool, and he rocked at gaming. "What's going on?"

Travis was walking by the pool, drinking a virgin strawberry daiquiri. He didn't mind the lack of alcohol around the different resort and parks, but he knew that some did, including a certain someone who wasn't too far away.

He'd been sticking to Thomas regardless of the scope of the assignment. They might not have to walk in pairs, but there was no way he was leaving the man's side, not with the lack of caffeine, nicotine, alcohol and drugs. Travis had to admit that Thomas was good at hiding the withdrawal's symptoms, but Travis was a cop and they spent their nights in the same room. Even without withdrawal, his awareness extended to paparazzi not trained agents that wanted to kill you. However, he knew that Thomas needed some space before they'd end up killing each other, so he was planning on sitting at a different table with a book and his drink.

Travis smiled at Nick. "Hey there, nothing much." He raised his glass. "Getting drunk on strawberry and lime juice. Mind if I sit?" This would give him the perfect view of Thomas and his brother, he could get to them relatively quickly and still look like he wasn't watching.

"Sure." Nick grinned affably. "This is a great place for girl-watching." And Eric and other people watching, but that remained unsaid since they were undercover. Nick's gun was with his towel, t-shirt, and shoes by the lounge chair within a short heave from inside the pool. One thing he would never do was let incompetence or inattention fail a mission.

He tried to see what book Travis had. "What'cha reading?"

Considering that the girls were less than legal teenagers or their mothers, Travis had no interest in the girls, and wasn't that a depressing thought. "Not much watching for someone my age," he said, sitting down, moving his chair so he could watch Thomas and his family.

He raised the book, showing the cover. "It's a thriller. It's this ex SEAL who current is U.S. Secret Service agent. He survives an attack which leaves 30 of his fellow agents dead and the president of the United States kidnapped. He's being framed for what happened and begins a search for those responsible and attempts to rescue the president." Probably not the time of reading to do on your spare time with the lifestyle they had, but it was all so outlandish that Travis enjoyed it. "So do you like this more or the water park?"

"All the more for me, then," Nick said, with a shark-like grin. From anyone else it'd be creepy, but from Nick it was all teenager. He had his eye on a few that he might try to talk to at some point.

"That sound cool," Nick said about the book. "I'm stuck with boring newspapers and magazines and some school work even on vacation. Becoming 'well rounded' is such a drag."

Nick turned sideways, water lapping around his bare chest, so he could still talk to Travis, ogle the girls, and eyeball Eric. "More calm here, but the water parks kick ass even with all the little kids and parents around." Plus, there was more of a chance for a bikini top to be lost at the water park.

Travis snorted. The kid might pretend to be a player, but that looked so wrong when the kid seemed to lose all confidence when surrounded by girls or when talking about sex and women. "Be careful. It's still called statutory rape if you get caught." Not that he thought for a second that Nick would be able to get laid, but it might work for the future.

"You can read those things for school and then read some more before you want to," he suggested. "Becoming well rounded is part of growing up. Welcome to the rest of your life," he said laughing.

"Yes, definitely calmer here," he said, still looking around the pool. "There are little kids here, too though. I guess with school, not many school age kids can take time off." It was why it was so quiet. He knew what Disneyland in the summer was like.

Nick's eyes widened slightly, and he'd finally be able to get out of the pool if he wanted. "I'll remember that," he said with a small squeak in his voice.

He shook it off. He was on a mission, anyway. "Great. Something to look forward to," Nick said dryly. "Can't they make it less boring?"

And there it was, the reason why that smile was completely out of place on Nick's face. God, the kid was so lost. By his age, Travis had lost his virginity, experimented with some kinky stuff, had threesomes, tried with guys and got arrested twice. The good old days.

Travis chuckled. "It's your job to make it less boring. You can learn from everything, you just have to find things you like, and no, I don't mean video games. Things about people, that's the way you grow up, you deal with them, you learn about them."

"I don't get to pick my assignments, though. They're given to me and there's not enough time in a week to do other stuff." Except porn, because there was always time for porn, but Nick didn't think Travis meant that type of learning. "Last winter, I tried reading some things before the assignments came and ended up with a... colorful problem that was so embarrassing."

No matter how much time passed, he was going be traumatized for life by his rainbow dick.

"I didn't say to pick your assignment, but to find things you like to do that are fun." Travis chuckled. "You'll be surprised how much you can read when you want to. Just do your homework faster and then you get time for your own reading."

Travis raise his eyebrows, trying not to laugh. "Should I even ask? Or is it better not to mention it again?"

"Oh-Em-Gee, it was terrible! It was like a rainbow spotlight. And Doc kept trying to look at my-," Nick dropped his voice to a whisper, "-dick." He was still mortified about it, and he was blushing up a storm. "Don't ever read a romance novel, no matter how much sex is in it."

Travis bit his lip, trying not to laugh, because that was just funny, although not as funny as the fact that Mr. Smooth here had a problem saying dick. "Some people might enjoy the idea of a woman looking at their dick," he teased. "Unless you're gay in which case, you might prefer a guy looking at your dick."

He laughed. "I've read a few when I was younger, borrowed them from one of my foster moms. I survived without too many problems. Real sex is still better than the one in the novel."

"No, I like girls and that's it. Everyone else can be as gay as they want, but that's not me."

The fact that Travis had had sex wasn't a novelty. It seemed like everyone but Nick did it or had done it all the time. "Yeah, that's what people keep saying, or I keep hearing through the walls. Douglas keeps telling me that he'll hire someone, but I'm not too sure about doing that because then I'll know what I'm missing. I've gotten to third base and I'm definitely missing that."

Travis nodded. "I like girls too, well women." It wasn't that he'd never experimented, just that he liked women more, and breasts. "Breasts are really nice, soft, but firm, big, small. I like them all."

He almost choked on the daiquiri. "You-" It was his turn to imitate Donald Duck. "You've never have... how old are you again?" He couldn't imagine any of his foster brothers not having sex at this age.

And for a moment, the confusion grew, because he was thinking of Thomas and his brother, and he doubted that either Hammond would care enough to talk to Nick let alone arrange for a prostitute until he remembered Derek's alias. "It's hard here, but you now what, it doesn't matter how old you are or whether you do it or not, sometimes you'll miss sex, some times you don't. It's like everything else in life."

Nick got a glazed look in his eyes, remembering Beth and the stripper. "Yeah. Breasts are awesome," he agreed.

"I turned nineteen this year," Nick said, though he gave a small shake of his head to the negative, put two fingers up then dropped them downward, to indicate two years less. His fake ID put him at nineteen recently. "It's not like I didn't try, but girls weren't too into me in high school." Really, what's-her-name... Amanda, yeah, she hadn't been into him and he'd liked her, and he'd been too busy with D.E.P.P. otherwise to do the whole dating thing that would get him to home plate.

"You think? 'Cuz, you know, the girlfriend I had over the summer went home but she hopes she'll be back in February or March next year, and maybe things might happen."

Travis laughed. "They are." He didn't care for which team you batted, breasts were always awesome.

He shook his head. "We grew up in very different places, that's all. I don't think I knew anyone that was a virgin at your age." Or possibly younger, but he knew nothing about Nick's home life so he had no way to know what the problem was. "Maybe you were just going after the wrong girls. There are always girls that are into you. You just have to find the right one."

Travis nodded. "Yes, I think so and you're way too young for anything serious. You have a girlfriend in the summer, one in September, one for Columbus day, one for Thanksgiving. Enjoy life."

Eliot couldn't decide if this was a vacation or training, but he knew that it sucked for him. Disney was not vision-friendly for him, reminding him acutely that he had a disability. He'd had to go back to using the cane again, and his sunglasses were always on in public. Rides were not his thing, shows were dancing skeletons, and shops held a lot of nothing. April was stuck in the waiting area some of the time, too, and he wasn't about to abandon her. So he did what he did best anyway - guarding the group he was with.

(He had to admit the one highlight was that Renko most likely had a migraine to end all migraines from sensory overload.)

Eliot was glad that Vance had decided this afternoon would be spent at the hotel, giving him a chance to relax a little. He was still on alert at all times, but there were no crowds, giant metal objects, or obstacles to impede him. His cane wasn't needed at the hotel after the first night, but he still used it to keep uniformity.

Sitting on the edge of the hotel pool with his legs dangling in the water, the sun beating on his bare shoulders, Eliot watched those in the area. He'd found out at the school that underwater and him didn't mix. The conformers trapped water in his hollow eyes. It had been more amusing than horrifying, but it was also another detriment to add to the list.

Spending time with April wasn't a detriment, however, especially since they hadn't had a honeymoon. He never would have asked for one as he knew the dangers. Taking advantage of the imposed vacation while at the hotel to engage in honeymoon activities was helping him survive this trip quite nicely.

April had never been to Disney World before, or Disney Land for that matter, and couldn't help but to be excited. Being pregnant meant there was a lot of standing or sitting around watching the rest of them go on rides that she couldn't go on, and a lot of being the designated baby sitter as parents enjoyed themselves, but to her that didn't really matter. There was still a lot to see and experience and while she was tired and had a sore back at the end of the day, she was enjoying herself mostly.

Epcot had been one of the best places so far, since it only had a few rides she couldn't go on. All the walking and the numerous activities also made her pretty tired, and she couldn't say she minded being back at the hotel for an afternoon today.

But there was one thing that bothered her more than any inconvenience with being pregnant, and that was how much Eliot wasn't enjoying himself. She couldn't blame him, this wasn't an easy place being more or less blind in, and she knew he hated being reminded of his disabilities. That was another reason she was grateful for them being at the hotel this afternoon. This way she could make some of this up to him at least.

In the pool cooling down, as she felt as if she was about to melt from the heat, April swam over to her husband, resting her elbows on his legs. "How are you doing?" she asked. "Want to come in the water? You don't need to go underwater to swim."

"I'm good for now. Don't want to get my sunglasses wet," Eliot said. "How're you holding up?" He knew she wouldn't tire herself out since there was no need to keep going at the hotel.

He let his gaze drift around the area again, noting who'd come or gone by size and count. "The studios are again tonight, then Downtown - whatever that is."

"I'm just fine," April assured him. "A bit tired, but nothing that can't be remedied by a nap and some alone time with you in our room." Preferably doing more than napping.

She moved her hand, running her fingers lightly up and down his arm. "Downtown is a pleasure area," she said. "Food, clubs, shows, shops - basically it's the after hour place to go. At least if my information is right," she added, but she'd made sure to find out as much as possible as soon as they got here. She wasn't one who liked winging it, she wanted to know what each area offered before going there.

"I can't say I don't wish the days were a bit shorter, but I've never been...well anywhere really. Definitely not Disney World. I know it can't be easy for you though. You hate using that cane."

"We start spending too much alone time in the room, people are gonna talk," Eliot teased.

He turned his hands over, clasping onto hers when they came back down into reach. "Sounds... like more of the same," he said dryly. "Maybe we'll find a restaurant that's less of a cafeteria, at least."

Eliot shrugged. "The cane's part of life, like everything else that goes with it," he said. "I've been to amusement parks as a kid, but never here. Someday, I'll take you and the rugrats all over the world, to the places I've been." Not the exact places, because they weren't very pleasant, but some of the countries themselves were nice.

"They can talk all they want," she answered with a grin. "Seeing how you're my husband and we're expecting a child I think they can all figure out what we're doing alone in our room."

"Besides, it's not like we got a honey moon. Only fair we make use of the vacation."

Squeezing his hand, she nodded. "I've checked, and there are nice restaurants there," she said. "One with Italian cuisine, and a jazz club with a more southern touch. I don't know how much we're expected to stay in one group and how much we get to choose ourselves, but either way the food should be better. At least if the descriptions is anything to go by."

His next comment made her practically beam. "Really?" she asked, not even reflecting on how impossible that would have been if she'd still been an active surgeon with an 80 hour week. Letting go of his hand she reached up so that she could pull his face closer to hers as she leaned out of the water. "I've got the best husband in the world, did you know that?" she asked.

"I think I might have to beat you up if you've already forgotten our wedding," April teased back, laughing.
