Re: Travis/Thomas
"I don't think about your class of people, or I didn't have to until you and your family arrived," Travis admitted as he put his jacket on the foot board. "And I don't think you're a kid or stupid. I have no clue what you did and didn't do at home. I mean I doubt the president and his family go to buy milk at the corner store unless it's a photo op, right? But otherwise, I don't judge people based on class. Dickheads are dickheads regardless of how much money they have."
Travis went around and sat on the edge of the bed as he looked at Thoams. "My partner was filthy rich and could afford to throw out thousands of dollars. Normal cops can't. He was the one that looked out of place. Jeans and a shirt or even a cheap pair of pants and a shirt look a lot more in place in a precinct. Don't get me wrong, Wes could pull it off, they go with his anal personality."
He laughed. "I do, because I've basically spent the last five years of my life with him. I've seen him more than his ex, before she became his ex and it's probably why she's his ex. He also makes me a better person, a better cop, not that I'd tell him, and since he's not here, I stop and think what he'd say and do." Travis unbuttoned his sleeves and rolled them up and then leaned forward, elbows on his knees. "But I wasn't talking about him out there, when I talked about flaws. I was talking about partners in general, about what you can have here, you can have my support and alliance if you want."
Getting up, he walked to the window, leaning against the wall and staring at Thomas. "Let's be honest. We both know that plenty of people would be happy if I became your buddy, make sure you behave, but if this," he said waving between them, "was an assignment, there's no way in hell that you'd be leaving a party with Kinney, especially when he was high as a kite, because those are things that someone who's worked in Narco for thirteen years notices. But the way I see it is, I can work for them, report to them, be loyal to them and babysit you pretty much forever, or I can take a chance on you like so many people have on me, I can be your partner and you can have my allegiance and help. You can make your own choices and act like an adult knowing that someone will back you up regardless, even though I'll rip you apart in private if you fuck up." He looked at Thomas, almost daring him. "Are you brave enough to trust me even a little? Enough to consider a partnership? The rest will come later."
